We will learn about Makhelet Hashacher\, a world renowned Japanese Hebrew Choir\, Joshua Nelson and the Kosher Gospel Singers\, the college a capella choir movement\, and HaZamir: The International Jewish Teen Choir. \nDr. Alan Mason\, Vice President for Special Projects\, is Professor Emeritus at Barry University in Miami\, Florida\, and is a graduate of the University of Miami\, where he received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Accompanying. DESCRIPTION:Guild Talks Music for Associates – Live from Columbus \nIn the first-ever GTM-sponsored regional festival\, on Sunday\, June 9\, 2024\, composer and GTM President David Shukiar and choirs from Columbus and Sylvania\, Ohio will explore his works in depth\, culminating in a concert at Congregation Beth Tikvah in Worthington\, Ohio. \nThree sessions will be streamed for GTM members\, and you can join for one\, two or all three at any time during the day.  The same Zoom link works for all sessions: \nREGISTER\nAN OPEN REHEARSAL at 10:30 a.m. EDT where David will rehearse the two pieces of his which the joint choir will present this afternoon\, his Sha’alu Sh’lom Yerushalayim and Psalm 150:  Hallelujah.  \n2.  Internationally recognized voice and speech teacher\, Kerrie Obert\, will work with the choirs on CARING FOR YOUR VOICE at 11:30 A.M. EDT. \n3.  A CONCERT at 3:00 p.m. EDT featuring the 4 choirs each doing a piece of David’s\, followed by the joint choir singing together.  David will share stories of his work as a composer and the background and meaning of all the pieces.  A video clip from David’s piece based on the writings of children at Terezin\, Through Children’s Eyes\, will also be shown. \nThe Festival is supported by generous grants from Jewish Columbus and from Dr. Alan Mason\, GTM VP for Special Projects.

What are the ways that an accompanist can be present in prayer as they offer music during prayer services? \nRegister Now\nDavid Strickland worked as a substitute organist at Central Synagogue before joining them as full-time organist in 2006. David is a graduate of the Wayne State University School of Fine and Performing Arts and was a student of Detroit Symphony Orchestra Pianist Mischa Kottler and DSO Organist Raymond Ferguson. David previously served as the music director for Epiphany Church in Manhattan’s Gramercy Park. He is also a composer. His opera\, “Phoenix Park\,” was produced by Downtown Music Productions; and his musical\, “The Trapped Family Singers\,” played at the Fringe International NYC Festival. His work has also been performed by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and by the National Symphony Orchestra of London.
