About Lauren McDaniel

Lauren McDaniel (she/her) isn’t a cantor, but she’s played one on TV. She studied acting and musical theatre at Rutgers University, where she was active in Hillel and worked as a cantorial soloist in the community. After earning her Master of Music from Butler University, she performed as an actor and singer on regional tours, cruise ships, and in theme parks. In addition to soloist work, Lauren was also the co-founder and artistic director of Bama Achat, a multidisciplinary arts company whose mission is to amplify Jewish voices through theatre and dance. When not working on an original contemporary ballet for klezmer band, her “day job” can best be described as ‘herding cats in the dark - with a tight deadline.’
