The heart of the Guild of Temple Musicians is Jewish Music. The Guild celebrates Jewish music in so many ways. From the many Guild Talks Music sessions to the awards the Guild presents. All of it in celebration of our Jewish music heritage.
The Ben Steinberg Young Composer’s Award
This competition, founded by Ben Steinberg is held annually to promote young Jewish composers’ works. The award is one of the few composition awards of any kind which provides the winner with a cash award, a first performance, transportation to the performance, and the possibility of the winning selection being published by Transcontinental Music Publications (TMP).

Shomeir Shirah Award
The GTM Shomeir Shirah Award was established in 1990 to recognize persons of good character who have made significant contributions to the Guild, furthered its mission and have, as a result of these things, strengthened excellence in the field of synagogue music.
