Preserving our Musical Past : Shaping our Musical Future
In Exodus, in the discussion of what people are to bring to build the Mishkan, we read
וְעָשׂוּ לִי מִקְדָּשׁ וְשָׁכַנְתִּי בְּתוֹכָם
“Let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell amongst them.
As musicians we have countless opportunities to enrich the souls of our communities, through music, song, prayer and love. Our Guild of Temple Musicians affiliation allows us the incredible opportunity to network, study, learn from and sometimes challenge one another in our pursuit of actualizing this passage. In furtherance of our charge of Preserving our Musical Past, and Shaping our Musical Future, along with our clergy and professional partners, we are proud to offer a new professional development series, which allows you to come and join other professionals from communities near and far, to delve into topics of interest.
These online learning opportunities will offer Guild Members the opportunity to grow their own professional networks, deepen their knowledge and skill sets, and provide a platform for resource and repertoire sharing, to enhance our sacred work and elevate our communities even more.
Sessions will be offered at different times each month—if one doesn’t work for you, the next one might, and you can go back and watch archived sessions as well.
Whether it’s a session on choral conducting basics, arrangement, choir management, service outlining, music selection, or simply repertoire sharing, we would be thrilled to have you join us. And most importantly, share with us what you want to see and study. Feel free to reach out to members of our Education Committee at any time with questions, comments and suggestions.
We are excited to offer these as an exclusive benefit to membership in the Guild, and hope to “see” you in one very soon! Let’s bring our collective gifts and strengths together, to help grow our musical future, so that our music may continue to create moments and places for holiness to dwell.
