Zoom NYAn overview of the Jewish choral phenomenon, beginning with New York's first and oldest Jewish community choir, The Yiddish Philharmonic Chorus, founded in 1922; the Boston Zamir Chorale, founded in 1969; Zemer Chai, the Jewish chorale of the nation's capitol, founded in 1976, and the Zamir Choral Foundation, founded by Matthew Lazar in 1960. We will learn about Makhelet Hashacher, a world renowned Japanese Hebrew Choir, Joshua Nelson and the Kosher Gospel Singers, the college a capella choir movement, and HaZamir: The International Jewish Teen Choir.
